i’m mattis, a photographer based in berlin. photography for me is a unique way to challenge myself and to discover new placed and meet new people.

my passion for photography was triggered in early 2022 on a business trip to egypt. i was there for my day job and oversaw photo and video shootings at several locations in Cairo, Alexandria, and various places somewhere in nowhere when out of the sudden someone put a canon with a 70-200mm lens in my hands. i had no idea what i was doing, but i loved it. half a year later i got myself a sony a7iv (not sorry canon), and started digging myself more and more into the world of photography.

apart from a few photo sessions in berlin and the occasional fashion or portrait shoot for friends and friends-of-friends, i now mainly use photography to explore new places on my travels. and of course whenever possible for tuma kimbi, the small berlin-based ngo through which I got to know such fabulous people and friends in east africa.
